Will iGaming be Favored by a Trump Administration?

iGaming has been something of a thorn in the side for consecutive US administrations. On the one hand they want States that have embraced gambling in general to keep on making those taxable Dollars, whilst at the same time semi-monopolise it to gambling companies licensed in each US State.

However, due to the fact that most companies that operate iGaming sites, which encompass casinos, poker, bingo and even sports betting sites are located offshore, being able to restrict access to those sites to anyone wanting to gamble at them has proven to be difficult.

In fact, under the last Bush administration it was decided that the burden would be on banking institutions who were required to block any financial transactions to gambling sites based outside of the US. This was a highly successful decision, mainly to the laws passed with the Safe Ports Act of 2006 which had the new regulations relating to anti-internet gambling tagged onto the back of it.

Many of those offshore companies meanwhile, have been continuing to cater for US players by re-coding their card related transactions as anything other than gambling site deposits.

As such anyone wishing to place any type of wager online is going to be able to do so with relative ease, however many people are wondering if that is about to change under a Trump Administration.

Trump’s Link to Casinos

Whilst President Trump has now relinquished all of his business interests and given control of his companies and organisations to his family members, it is very well known that he has had many links to bricks and mortar casinos throughout his life.

That fact has led many speculators to believe that he is going to take a long hard look at the entire online gambling industry and put into place some form of structure whereby it can be licensed and regulated much more thoroughly.

Whist there are US States such as Nevada and New Jersey who have in place a regulatory infrastructure that allows them to regulate and license online poker sites, online sportsbook, bingo and casino sites are still without any regulatory guidance.

We would expect when Trump has sorted out his more urgent problems at home and beyond and has firmly settled into his new role he will indeed take a refreshing look at online gambling in general and will open it up to many more people and many more gambling sites will be permitted to open and offer their services directly to the adult US population.

Gaming Sites Ready to Roll

There are of course many companies that already operate throughout the United States and internationally who operate online gambling related sites in countries other than the US and as such many of them would be instantly ready to open up their respective sites to US based gamblers.

William Hill for example is one of the global leaders in regards to online sports betting and they also operate a huge number of Sportsbooks throughout Nevada. Having also gained gambling licenses to operate in many other countries where online gambling is licensed and regulated it shouldn’t take them long to go live with sports betting opportunities for any US State that is happy to see them operate within their boundaries.

It is not only betting sites and sportsbook that are all good and ready to open up to the US market place, for Gamesys bingo sites are another global leader in regard to offering all manner of different real money bingo related games and side games to customers in many different countries of the world.

With the online gambling industry turning over billions of Dollars each year, it really is time we feel for Trump to look again at how an infrastructure could be put into place to legalize online gambling in all forms but also have a structure in place to protect anyone from using those sites, by way of betting limits which are currently not offered to US based gamblers betting and playing at offshore licensed gambling sites.

Ways of Making Online Gambling a Safe Environment

There are of course going to be lots of opponents to online gambling becoming a regulated and taxable industry throughout the US, but there are safeguards that can be put into paced based on how other countries have regulated the industry.

Geo targeting software is available which will only allow people within one US State to be able to access gambling sites licensed and regulated in such States, so that is one way to ensure only those permitted to gamble can do so.

Also in regards to underage gambling, there are lots of way any gambling related site can and will be able to instantly verify their newly signed up customers are over the age of 21.

One problem that many people can experience in regards to gambling in any shape or form online, is that that is very easy to spend way more money than they intended to, and as such in places such as the UK the UK Gambling Commission requires all of their licensed and regulated gambling sites of any type to have in place customer adjustable gaming limits options.

So when a customer logs onto for example to a casino related website they are required to put into place via their session gaming limits how much they want to deposit during that session, the amount of time they wish to gamble for and also how much they are prepared to lose.

Once they have reached any of those limits they will not be able to deposit or play any longer for a period that can be anywhere from just a few hours or a few days. So online gambling can be and is regulated and it probably won’t be very long before it is throughout America.
