Dear White Liberals: Stop With the Fake Activism for Black Americans

Are White Liberals Really Interested in Helping the “Oppressed”?

Who would’ve thought that The Huffington Post would publish an article critiquing liberals and pointing out liberals’ hypocrisy?

The Huffington Post Contributor Nikki Johnson-Huston, recently wrote a blog called “The Culture of The Smug White Liberal,” which does just that.

It should be noted that Nikki is African-American and has consistently aligned with liberal policies. She points out that these policies are about placing blame on conservative Republicans for minorities’ issues.

This, she realized, was a liberal deception, as Nikki states: “The truth is that liberalism is about making elites feel better about themselves and their lives without requiring the underlying action of significantly improving the lives of African-Americans.”

This is the essence of the so called “smug white liberal,” Nikki says.

She continues, “The White Liberal culture encourages talking about diversity and shaming others for their alleged racism, but many times they themselves work in environments that are mostly white.”

These liberals treat an entire community as victims who need saving. To them, minorities can only benefit under them, or so they want, just for votes.

Nikki has awoken to the Democrats’ race play, as she states “we have given our loyalty and votes to Democrats, who paternalistically tell us they want to help us, but we have little to show for it since blacks started voting Democrat back in the 1960’s.” She adds on that cities under Democrats are poor.

Shockingly, the Libertarian Party has seen an increase African-American membership, I myself being one. The reason for this is that “Somewhere along the way we [the left] stopped fighting for the little guy and became the party of the smug, educated elites who look down on those with less education and deem them unable or unworthy of being able to make personal decisions for their own lives,” Nikki wrote. Hillary Clinton’s “deplorable” comment about Trump supporters backs this up.

Liberalism has become more about smugness, victimhood, entitlement and the right to police people’s feelings and thoughts, as they feel theirs are morally superior. They maintain the highest form of self-righteousness, unwilling to consider a different point of view.

Recently they [liberals] have come out to show support for the Black Lives Matter protests, but “ask yourself [referring to them] where you chose to live and how many of your neighbors, that you know, are people of color. Where do your kids go to school? Who are your friends and colleagues? Who do you see next to you while you’re in your meeting at work?” Nikki writes.

Most of them are far away in their expensive liberal institutions, where they study and write a report about inequality, which consists of ideas written by another liberal. They feel good inside to ridicule other whites in their self-righteousness, as now they feel superior and well educated.

Making a person feel good does not take them out of their situation. While some may be sympathetic, they do themselves a disservice by aligning with Democrats, whose policies have yet to bring change to minority communities.

Dialogue is necessary for healing the nation’s divide and addressing issues, but the left has deemed certain facts and truth as hate speech, labeling anyone that disagrees with them racists, sexists, homophobic, Islamophobic etc. They’re quick to label anyone who challengers their rhetoric with facts.

As Nikki eloquently wrote, we cannot address the issues this way. Thoughts and feelings sensitivity pandering won’t bring change to those who need it the most.
