White House: “Targeting Individual Pot Smokers Is Not The Best Use Of Resources”
White House Deputy Spokesman Josh Earnest said Wednesday targeting individual marijuana users was “not the best allocation” of federal law enforcement resources. This comes in light of new laws passed in Washington and Colorado that are giving medical marijuana users and even some recreational users the power to decide what to do with their bodies.
Pressure on the administration has increased, especially since CNN’s Chief Medical Correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, has come out recently in advocacy of allowing medical marijuana to be used.
President Barack Obama is not yet advocating for a change in marijuana’s drug classification and will continue to prosecute drug traffickers.
