White House Has New Twitter Account To Push Global Warming Alarmism

The White House has created a new Twitter account to publicize President Barack Obama’s global warming policies ahead of the next United Nations climate summit in Paris.

Already the account, @FactsOnClimate, has sent a stream of tweets warning about the dangers of global warming and the policies Obama has implemented to counter it, including mentioning Environmental Protection Agency regulations on carbon dioxide emissions from power plants.

The Twitter account is “a way for the White House to communicate the President’s climate accomplishments and announcements, to engage in conversation with groups and people who have questions about the President’s climate Action Plan, and to correct the record when there is public misinformation as we move toward the Paris climate negotiations this December and beyond,” a White House official told Politico Pro.

The @FactsOnClimate also links to a White House webpage detailing how EPA regulations will impact the environment and economy. The website details other aspects of Obama’s Climate Action Plan involving infrastructure and green energy.

The new Twitter account comes two weeks after the White House hired EPA communications strategist Thomas Reynolds to ramp up Obama’s climate messaging ahead of the U.N. Paris talks.

Obama hopes more PR ahead of the Paris summit will show other countries the U.S. is serious about cutting carbon dioxide emissions and tackling global warming. Obama wants signing a global climate agreement to be part of his presidential legacy.

“And I believe that when we get to Paris at the end of this year, we’re now in a position for the first time to have all countries recognize their responsibilities to tackle the problem, and to have a meaningful set of targets as well as the financing required to help poor countries adapt,” Obama said.

“And if we’re able to do that by the end of this year — and I’m cautiously optimistic — then we will at least have put together the framework, the architecture to move in concert over the next decade in a serious way,” he added.
