Two Baltimore City school police officers have been placed on administrative leave after a video surfaced appearing to show one officer repeatedly slap and then kick a student.
The cellphone video was filmed Tuesday and put on Facebook. It appears to show one officer watch as Baltimore City School Police Chief Marshall Goodwin slaps a student. The mayor and school have condemned the officer’s actions, the Baltimore Sun reports.
“Anytime there is a law enforcement officer with that level of authority that seems to be abusing that authority, it impacts all of us across the country,” Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said. “It certainly is not helpful as we work to build bridges of trust to see that level of mistreatment.”
The school is investigating the incident.
“I was totally appalled at what I saw today,” Karl Perry, chief officer of school supports, told Baltimore CBS Local.
