WATCH to see if Senate uses “nuclear option” on Gorsuch nomination —- The Senate resumes debate on the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch to be on the Supreme Court. At approximately 11:00am ET the Senate will vote to invoke cloture on the Gorsuch nomination. 60 votes will be needed to invoke cloture. If cloture is not invoked, several other votes are expected to change the filibuster rules for Supreme Court nominations from 60 to a simple majority, known as the “nuclear option.” If and when cloture is invoked, there will be up to 30 hours of post-cloture debate on the Gorsuch nomination with a final confirmation vote expected Friday early evening, per C-SPAN.
