Wal-Mart pulls slutty costumes for kids after uproar

Halloween is still more than a month away, but we’re already knee-deep in controversy over new costumes that many parents say go too far. Wal-Mart took steps to remove its “Naughty Leopard” costume after a firestorm of complaints. The costume was made out of a sleeved dress with sparkles, cat ears and a knee length skirt. “We are in the process of pulling the product off our shelves and we apologize to any customers that may have been offended by the name,” Walmart spokeswoman Danit Marquardt told Goodmorningamerica.com.

Hmm… well that seems to have resolved the problem without resorting to government force. Although the costume didn’t really appear to be that slutty, the name certainly implied that’s what it was about. Still, the responsibility for things like this definitely have to fall on the individual parents and this is a case of the marketplace correcting due to consumer demand, rather than gov’t regulation. But seriously, what kind of parent would buy something like that for their kids?

Possibly the same type of parent who would dress up their kid as a “baby stripper”?

Have a happy Halloween kids!
