LISTEN TO TLR’S LATEST PODCAST:

The Charlottesville, Va., city council voted to move the city’s Robert E. Lee statue out of its Lee Park and rename the park, despite over 8,000 readers of a local media outlet voting against the decision.
Here are the results of the poll conducted by NBC29:

In order to see the poll, viewers must first provide a response. This is an online poll, so it’s not scientific.
According to the results, 8,158 voters (87.3 percent) thought that the Charlottesville City Council should not remove the General Lee statue or change the name of Lee Park. 490 voters (5 percent) believed the council should rename the park and remove the statue, 361 voters (3.9 percent) thought that the statue should be kept, but the park renamed, and 72 voters (0.8 percent) felt that the statue should be removed, but the park name kept.
It should also be noted that readers from anywhere in the world can vote in the poll, so its results are more a reflection of popular opinion across the globe than in Charlottesville specifically.
