Van Jones: ‘The Clinton Days Are Over’

Van Jones, a political pundit and outspoken critic of President-elect Donald Trump, said Sunday that the Clinton family’s influence is finished while commenting on the state of the Democratic party.

“You have to understand, I think that the Clinton days are over,” Jones told CNN host Jake Tapper. “This idea that we’re going to be this moderate party that’s going to move in this direction, that’s going to throw blacks under the bus for criminal justice reform, and for prison expansion, that’s going to throw workers under the bus for NAFTA, those days are over.”

Tapper was facilitating a discussion on how the Democratic party has lost so much ground in both federal and state government, and what they can potentially do to right the deviating ship.

“When we said hope and change, we didn’t want that change. That’s not the change we wanted,” Jones said apprehensively with a smile on his face.

Jones made some suggestions for potential leaders of the party. “I think you’re gonna be surprised at some of the people who become stars quickly. You have Kamala Harris from California. She is unreal,” Jones said excitingly. “She’s gonna be out there defending those DREAMer kids because they’re a big part of her constituency.” (RELATED: Kamala Harris Defeats Fellow Democrat To Win Barbara Boxer’s Senate Seat)

The other guests on the show offering introspective insights were Karen Finney, a former Clinton Campaign Senior Adviser and Brian Schweitzer, the Democratic Governor of Montana from 2005 to 2013.

Regardless of Jones’ conjecture, Hillary Clinton signaled last week that she was ready to step back into the spotlight in the near future.
