Disability Fraudster Gets Caught Red-Handed
A US Postal worker had an unfortunate turn in her life when, in 2004, she was forced to file and collect disability. Cathy Wrench Cashwell filed in her claim that she was physically unable to “stand, sit, kneel, squat, climb, bend, reach or grasp.” That is, until it comes time to pull a game show wheel. Five years later, in December 2009, Cashwell , still unable to transport a mail bag, appeared on national television to participate on the Price is Right, where she dutifully fulfilled her obligations by reaching, pulling, bending, and pushing the wheel like there was no tomorrow. Twice. Perhaps it was an incredible rush of adrenaline. Either way, the Feds didn’t buy it. Earlier this month, she pled guilty to a federal indictment which stated she “raised both arms above her head and gripped the same handle with both hands.”
Unfortunately that’s not all. The following year, Cashwell (an ironic last name considering she was cashing-in pretty well on the U.S. taxpayers) was seen ziplining across a Carnival Cruise ship on a pretty lavish vacation. Sadly, this story is a mere drop in the bucket when it comes to Federal disability fraud. To that, we say:
