US Army Warns Troops To Avoid 37 Cities Due To Possible BLM Violence

By Blake Neff

The U.S. Army has warned personnel to steer clear of 37 different locations across the U.S. to avoid being the victims of potential anti-military violence fueled by Black Lives Matter.

Online postings claiming affiliation with the hacktivist group Anonymous are calling for a wave of protests to be launched at 7 p.m. Eastern Time in 37 cities and in 26 states plus D.C. It’s not entirely clear if the protests will really materialize, because an almost identical call was made in 2014 and nothing came of it. Other individuals claiming the Anonymous mantle have called it a hoax.

Hoax or not, the Army isn’t taking any chances, and is warning personnel to stay away.

According to The Washington Times, U.S. Army North (which oversees domestic U.S. forces) has sent out a warning to bases around the country saying that troops should avoid anywhere a “Day of Rage” protest is scheduled to happen, citing the risk that an anti-police protest could quickly escalate to violence.

“Please be advised the [US Northern Command] has issued a threat advisory informing DOD personnel that a series of protests has been scheduled to be conducted across the United States on July 15, 2016,” the warning says. It lists off the 37 announced locations of protests and advises personnel to avoid those places entirely “for your personal safety.”

“The advisory was to provide situational awareness for all Army personnel within the U.S. Northern Command area of responsibility who may find themselves in the vicinity of any protests (planned or spontaneous),” a spokesman told the Times. “At this time, we do not have information regarding any specific threats to DOD personnel.”

It appears at least some commanders are taking the warning to heart. At Scott Air Force Base in Missouri, a warning was posted online telling personnel to stay away from the Gateway Arch in St. Louis due to the possibility of a violent protest. Others have posted on Twitter referencing warnings going out.
