Guns: 3 Uber: 0
So first, Uber banned guns for drivers and passengers altogether after a driver in Chicago helped to prevent a mass shooting with his concealed weapon in order “to make sure riders and drivers feel comfortable.”
Because that makes sense.
Then, a week after the public announcement of the firearm ban, an Uber driver in Queens, New York was robbed at gunpoint by a man with a rifle.
Now most recently, an Uber driver in Florida defended himself with his (now banned) firearm while being choked during an altercation with a customer.
Steven Rayow, 74, picked up passenger Marc Gregory Mermel, 60, at 10 p.m. on Sunday, and the men began arguing. Things turned physical when Mermel choked Rayow, who had a Concealed Carry permit, and pulled the gun from his waistband.
Rayow then shot the customer in the foot, and things were settled.
What a man.
Mermel was taken to the hospital for his injuries (obviously not in an Uber), and details about the altercation are still unknown.
But yeah, Uber, I still feel more “comfortable” with the firearm ban… jackasses.
