Trump’s Social Media Director Just Put a Target on Justin Amash’s Back

Rep. Justin Amash, R-Mich., walks through a basement corridor to the House of Representatives for the vote on his amendment to the Defense spending bill that would cut funding to the National Security Agency's phone surveillance program, on Capitol Hill, Wednesday, July 24, 2013. The White House and congressional backers of the NSA's electronic surveillance program are warning that ending the massive collection of phone records from millions of Americans would put the nation at risk from another terrorist attack. Dan Scavino Jr., the director of social media for the Trump white house, has just singled out one of Trump’s dissenters, Justin Amash, in a tweet that has since exploded in the past couple of hours:

The tweet reads: “[President Trump] is bringing auto plants and jobs back to Michigan. [Justin Amash] is a big liability. #TrumpTrain, defeat him in [the] primary.”

This call to arms of sorts among the Trump wing of the bifurcated GOP is just one of many actions and words from the Trump administration that has lately signaled a shift if its frontier of antagonism; initially the Trump administration seemed to aim to unite the entire Republican Party against the Democrats, but ever since the freedom caucus wing of the GOP kept Trump’s infamous “Obamacare Lite” healthcare bill from passing, the villains of Trump’s rhetorical world have become the freedom caucus Republicans themselves. This has of course led to even more in-fighting for the GOP, and threatens to undermine what potential strength and solidarity Trump’s GOP could have had.

The next four years are gearing up already to be quite interesting, indeed. Grab your popcorn.
