[WATCH] Trump to French Reporter: “We have a better president than you”

President Donald Trump’s response to a French reporter’s question regarding America’s low unemployment rate took a jab at French President Emmanuel Macron during a recent stop in Texas.

You have very low unemployment rate in the US, and we have very high unemployment rate in France. How come? What the recipe for?” the reporter asked Trump as he toured a new Louis Vuitton factory in Keene, Texas.

President Trump responded, “Well, maybe we have a better president than you do.”

France has a current unemployment rate of 8.5%, which is the lowest it has been in a decade, according to TownHall.com. However, this remains quite high compared to other countries in the European Union, such as Germany, with a current unemployment rate of 5% as of October, according to TownHall.com.

The new Louis Vuitton plant in Texas was built as part of Trump’s Pledge to America’s Workers initiative. Some people wondered who would benefit from the new workshop, where handbags would all be printed with “Made in the USA.”, according to TownHall.com.

Vanessa Friedman, the fashion director/ critic for The New York Times criticized the building of the new handbag factory on Twitter.

“Brand Trump met brand Louis Vuitton in Texas this week. There were cows! There were handbags! There were speeches! But who is going to benefit the most from this relationship?” asked Friedman.

President Trump fired back at Friedman’s question, simply responding, “The USA.”

While some might criticize President Trump for what may be viewed as an arrogant response to a reporter from a foreign country, the building of this new factory could potentially bring much more than the cows back home to Texas.
