Former Labor Secretary Tom Perez is the new chairman of the Democratic National Committee. Keith Ellison, who was endorsed by Bernie Sanders, came in second place to subsequently accept a position as deputy chair.
Perez ran a strong campaign with focus on voting access and down-ballot battles.
The final vote of 235 – 200 was cast after candidates such as South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Sally Boynton Brown dropped out.
