The Real Oppression Campus Feminists Don’t Talk About

In this week’s video, Sommers criticizes college campus feminists for playing dumb when it comes to international women’s issues.

She tells the story of Atena Farghadani, a 28-year-old Iranian artist, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison for posting a feminist cartoon on Facebook. The cartoon protested actions taken by the Iranian parliament, so she was arrested for “spreading propaganda and insulting members of parliament through paintings.”

In her cell, Farghadani flattened paper cups and drew colorful pictures on them, which is also against the rules, because if we allow women to draw things, what will they want next? Rights? Smh.

So, she was beaten and sexually assaulted for the crime.

But American campus feminists remain silent.

They’re more concerned with white, male cisgendered privilege because it allows those bigoted men to shamelessly use the correctly gendered public bathroom. THE PATRIARCHY MUST BURN!!!!!!!!!!!!

In her video, Sommers references a book that is used as reading material in introductory-level women’s studies classrooms across American universities. Its titled “The Penguin Atlas of Women in the World,” and compares american gender “injustices” to those seen in Uganda and Somalia.

So, a man claiming an unmarried woman as his wife by raping her, as is legal in Uganda, is equivalent to United States legislatures blocking anti-abortion bills.

Hyper-active victimhood is blind to reality, clearly.

If there’s once force that could help drive change for women in oppressed countries, shouldn’t it be the women who are equally protected and free under their own country’s law? Why are we wasting our time talking about Caitlyn Jenner’s fake boobs when we should be talking about Atena Farghadani and the millions of other innocent women with stories like hers?
