The Obama Administration’s Orwellian Censorship of Orlando Transcripts

“It’s a beautiful thing, the Destruction of words. Of course the great wastage is in the verbs and adjectives, but there are hundreds of nouns that can be got rid of as well.” — George Orwell’s 1984 

In George Orwell’s prescient novel about totalitarian government, 1984, the main protagonist is a censor working to rewrite history so it maintains a message that is to the approval of the party. Of course, he isn’t called a censor, he is given the much more pleasing title of clerk at the Ministry of Truth. The party instructs him to alter the records so they always reflect the party line and encourages him to insert newspeak into the records as a way of limiting the range of thought of readers.  Newspeak is a language that perverts English words and grammar in a way that completely reduces the meaning.

Control the language people ues; control their thoughts. This Orwellian concept is now being openly employed by the Obama Administration in the aftermath of the Orlando terrorist attack that left nearly 50 dead in a gay nightclub.

We are told that the shooter, Omar Mateen, pledged his support to ISIS and praised Allah while on the phone with law enforcement. Today, those transcripts were release — only they had been scrubbed of any reference to Islam or the Islamic State terrorist organization. They even substituted the word “God” for “Allah.”

Here is the part of the transcript that has been censored:

OD: Emergency 911, this is being recorded.

OM: In the name of God the Merciful, the beneficial [in Arabic]

OD: What?

OM: Praise be to God, and prayers as well as peace be upon the prophet of God [in Arabic]. I let you know, I’m in Orlando and I did the shootings.

OD: What’s your name?

OM: My name is I pledge of allegiance to [omitted].

OD: Ok, What’s your name?

OM: I pledge allegiance to [omitted] may God protect him [in Arabic], on behalf of [omitted]. 

Transcripts like this, used for public record and media purposes, should be released unedited. Instead we have a clearly political motive compelling the federal government to omit info and alter the transcripts — an act they openly admit to.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch said, “What we’re not going to do is further proclaim this man’s pledges of allegiance to terrorist groups, and further his propaganda.”

What that really means is they are not going to allow the public record to reflect things that don’t fit the party line — namely, anything that detracts from their narrative blaming law-abiding gun owners for an act of Islamic terrorism. Such facts will not make it past Obama’s Ministry of Truth.
