The Libertarian Republic News Magazine Now Ad Free!

Hello ladies and gentlemen! Thank you for being a reader of The Libertarian Republic news website. I started this site four years ago, in hopes that one day it would grow from a single person’s blog, into the voice of the liberty movement. Today, 43 million pageviews later, it has become one of the most popular libertarian news sites in the world, thanks to your support and the help of a dedicated team of diverse writers, interns, and web developers.

I’m not a web guru, but I’ve learned a lot along the way about how to monetize a website, and what it takes to be a successful journalist in the era of Buzzfeed. During my time at Fox Business working for Judge Napolitano, I learned all the tricks of the trade for how to be a good, objective reporter, even if I was biased towards liberty. I’ve worked very hard at trying to make this site a place where you can get good, reliable information, that’s of interest, as well as entertaining. I want TLR to be a place where you can trust that even though we have an agenda for liberty, we are honest, and any claims we make are cited with links to credible sources.

Much of what I have learned in the last few years building this site has come from the mistakes I’ve made. I’ve not properly monetized the site, I’ve alienated readers by showing too many ads, or not properly formatted it to work across mobile devices. I also have learned that while 60-70% of our users are on mobile devices, those devices only generate about 10% of our revenue. Ouch! In order to adjust for that, and to not suffer a similar fate as other news websites that are going belly up, we’ve had to include some intrusive ads and pop ups in order to best monetize the traffic properly for the size of audience we are reaching.

Because of this approach, some of our readers complained about intrusive advertising. Many people asked if there was some other way they could read the site, without having to deal with the ads and popups. I searched and scraped for ways to do so, finally arriving at the solution of offering a paid subscription for TLR that removes the ads. We’ll still advertise in our newsletter, and in our podcast, but now you can have a beautiful, clean, browsing experience of TLR on any device if you are a paid member of the site.

Now I know what you’re thinking, why should you pay for something that you can get for free? Well, besides the obvious fact that you can get all the content on the website without the clunky ads, you’ll also be investing in a libertarian site with a future. My goals are to ramp up production if we are successful. I have dreams of mini-documentaries and historical biopics of our heroes, Bastiat, Mises, Hayek, and Spooner. With a small subscription on your part, you’ll be helping TLR build the next generation of quality libertarian media content. I promise to use it to help spread our message even further.

So, if you’re interested in joining with us to grow and spread the message, consider a monthly, or even a yearly subscription to The Libertarian Republic news magazine. We thank you for your support.
