Team Bush Mocked For Complete Flop Of Video Ad Mocking Rubio

Rachel Stoltzfoos

A Facebook post sponsored by the Super PAC backing Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush appears to have completely flopped, prompting some jabs on Twitter at the entire Bush campaign.

The video mocks Republican senator and presidential candidate Marco Rubio for flip flopping on certain issues and missing Senate votes, using Rubio’s signature boots. A pair of legs wearing the boots walk and dance across the screen in the short video, while a re-write of “These Boots Are Made For Walking” plays in the background, and Rubio’s alleged flip flops are highlighted on the screen.

The sponsored post had just a few thousand views and fewer than 10 likes as of 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, prompting Twitter user @AG_Conservative to tweet a screenshot of the post.

“You pay for 2.2 thousand views and you get 7 likes? LOL” he tweeted. “$100 million down the drain.”

An entirely unscientific perusal of Right to Rise USA’s Facebook page shows that the lack of engagement seems to be a trend (outside of one post that had roughly 200 likes).

Bush was considered formidable early on in the race in part because of his ability to raise vast sums of money. As of July 2015, he and his allies had raisedmore than $100 million for the campaign. But he continues to lag in the polls, apparently unable to capitalize on the massive war chest.

His Real Clear Politics polling average in Iowa is 4.6 percent, barely ahead of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Republican Sen. Rand Paul. He’s also faring worse nationally, with just a 3.8 percent polling average, below Christie and not far ahead of Paul, neither of whom had anything remotely close to spend.
