I’m sorry, but on what planet do you only need just one taco?
FRANCISVILLE, LA – A teacher resigned after she was reported to have kicked and slapped a first grade student. Chanel Lemelle reportedly hit the boy because she thought he had taken too much food at lunchtime. Apparently though, he just didn’t offer enough tribute to her own plate.
Video footage from the school cafeteria reportedly show that she can be seen kicking him in the rear. Lemelle’s attorney defended her, saying that “She’s very sad that this is going on. She loves teaching, loves her students and would never do anything to hurt any of her children.”
“A sheriff’s deputy who reviewed camera footage of the incident wrote in an arrest report that as the student walked by Lemelle in the school’s cafeteria, she could be seen kicking him in the rear,” reported The Advocate.
“The video also showed her slapping the boy on the back of the head, the deputy wrote.”
Apparently Lemelle said that “he only needed one taco.”
Witnesses reported that Lemelle frequently would frequently bring an empty lunch plate to the cafeteria to fill with food from her students.
Some parents in the school district have had other complaints as well. “I know what my child has experienced within this school district,” Michelle A. Gaines posted on social media. “My child was belittled by a teacher in front of a whole classroom full of kids, he was verbally assaulted by a student, and knocked down all in the presence of a teacher. Nothing was done. I have gone to the school several times …”
When contacted by the press, Superintendent Hollis Milton said “At the end of the day, it’s still a wonderful school.”
