Clash of the Titans!
Crossfire is a new CNN Monday night show that debuted with an epic debate between Senators Rand Paul and Robert Menendez over the question of whether to bomb Syria. Hosted by Newt Gingrich, the show is an exciting back and forth, where both men were given equal footing to argue their case.
Paul argued that Obama’s “red line” comment was a mistake while Menendez stated that attacking Syria is critical because of our moral authority on the issue of chemical weapons being used in war. At the moment it appears that there has now become a diplomatic option that might avoid the US strike. The Syrian government is reacting to a comment made by Secretary of State John Kerry that the only way to avoid war would be for the government of Bashar Assad to turn over all their chemical weapons stockpiles to UN inspectors. Assad has made overtures that he might be willing to do so, if the alternative is an American strike.
