GOLDEN TEMPLE, INDIA – An honest-to-God sword fight broke out today in India after a disagreement between two rival Sikh groups over who should speak first at a memorial event boiled over.
The event, which was supposed to mark the 30th anniversary of a military operation to remove militants from the Amritsar temple, devolved as the two groups couldn’t agree on which group would speak first. The fight lasted for almost half an hour, and the police were summoned to the Golden Temple, which is considered the most sacred site of the Sikh religion.
Twelve people were hurt during the confrontation.
