Secret Pow Wow: Hillary Turns To Elizabeth Warren For 2016 Advice

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton invited Sen. Elizabeth Warren over for a private meeting in December, in a likely bid to get in front of the threat Warren poses to Clinton’s 2016 ambitions.

The two met one-on-one at Clinton’s home in Northwest D.C. without staffers and at her request, reported The New York Times. Warren gave Clinton policy ideas and suggestions in what was a “cordial and productive” meeting, a Democrat who was briefed on the meeting told The Times.

Clinton did not ask Warren to endorse her in 2016, the Democrat added.

As Clinton continues to gear up for a 2016 run, progressives who see Clinton as too moderate continue to clamor for a Warren run. Obama reportedly ordered his top aide to convince Warren to run, partly out of similar fears she’s not progressive enough and might reverse some of his policies. (RELATED: Will Obama Screw Over Clintons One Last Time?)

Warren has positioned herself as the leader of a war on Wall Street. She adamantly opposes any changes to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform overhaul, and successfully challenged Obama’s high-level Treasury nominee based on his Wall Street credentials. (RELATED: Warren Defeats Obama’s Treasury Nominee)

Clinton’s anti-Wall Street cred is lacking, and could give her trouble with the progressive wing of her party. She’s apparently taking the threat seriously.
