Bad Guys Beware

School board Chairman Marshall Porter said, “The current law in Oregon allows for anybody to concealed carry on school grounds. To exclude our staff seems like they’re being punished. They should have a right to protect themselves if they so choose.”

Porter said that he voted to repeal the ban in order to protect their district from school shootings. The repeal applies to seven schools in the district, including one high school, three alternative schools, one middle school and one elementary school.

Another school board member explained her vote saying, “I have my kids in there. If there was a chance that something was to happen, and there’s a chance that a teacher might be able to protect them, I’m fine with that.”

I grew up in St. Helens, and graduated from St. Helens High in ’08. The outrage I’ve seen regarding this policy decision is outstanding. Every liberal minded person I know is freaking out.

Personally, I think it’s a good move.
