Following the shocking, yet not so shocking news that Sean Spicer had decided to resign as White House Press Secretary, NBC is now reporting that Spicer’s deputy secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be filling his shoes.

The decision was reportedly announced by newly appointed White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci.
Huckabee Sanders, formerly the Deputy Press Secretary, has been a political aide for candidates such as former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee, her father, and former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty.
Huckabee Sanders has had some time at the podium prior to her appointment when she was tasked to fill in for Spicer as he fulfilled his Naval Reserve duties.

During her time as stand-in for Spicer, who was already a target for “Saturday Night Live,” Huckabee Sanders drew her own comedy caricature.

Spicer, in explaining his departure, told reporters that he felt it important to allow WH Comms. Director Scaramucci to build his own “operation,” and that the President could use a “clean slate.”
“We’re at the point where” the president “could benefit from a clean slate," Spicer tells the AP.

Spicer felt it would be best for Scaramucci to be able to build his own operation “and chart a new way forward," he tells the AP.

President Donald Trump, following Spicers decision told reporters that he was “grateful” for Spicer’s work and wished him luck in his next move. Scaramucci however, responded oddly saying that he hoped Spicer went on to make “a tremendous amount of money.”
