Sanders Makes Yet Another Embarrassing Tweet, Mixes Up Nouns and Adjectives

By Blake Neff

Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign had a rude run-in with the English language Monday after its official Twitter account blasted Wall Street with a series of “adjectives” that were not adjectives.

“Greed, fraud, dishonesty, arrogance,” said a Sanders tweet published Monday morning. “These are just some of the adjectives we use to describe Wall Street.” The tweet was quickly deleted, but not before other users snagged screenshots of it.

Needless to say, none of the four words are adjectives, that is, words used to describe nouns or pronouns. Instead, they are all nouns, the names of specific things. The adjectival forms of the four words would be “greedy,” “fraudulent,” “dishonest,” and “arrogant.”
