Russia to Offer War Tourism in Syria

This is almost to weird to believe… if it weren’t Russia. A firm there has plans to offer war tours for people who apparently want to visit the front lines of the battles in Syria.

Beginning in 2016, tourists from around the world will be able to take the “Assad Tour,” which will include visits to the frontline of the battle “against terrorism,” RT reported Tuesday. The Russian news outlet said that the Russian company Megapolis Ltd. has already applied for registration of their trademark “Assad Tour,” apparently named after Syrian President Bashar Assad.

“The applicant, Megapolis Ltd., expects to launch tours from Moscow to Syria next year, with the possibility of a trip to the front line,” said the president of the First Patent Company Anatoly Aronov, who assisted in filing the application. Aronov explained the new tours will be aimed at individuals or small groups of tourists and that the tours will last four or five days and cost about US$1,500 per person, including costs of airfare and hotel accommodations.

Assad Tours, Aronov added, expects to exploit the fact that there is Russian military presence in Syria, that a large number of Syrian who are fluent in Russian, and that many Syrians would be highly willing to host Russians to generate income.
