Rand Paul is the Ferris Bueller of American Politics

By TJ Wass

The cross-cultural popularity of Senator Rand Paul across America and his potential run for the White House reminds me of a great scene from the famous John Hughes movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”

The main character played by Matthew Broderick has earned the respect of all of the cliques at his high school. This intercultural rapport is to the dismay of the authoritarian principal Ed Rooney. Even the secretary named Grace declares: “Ferris Bueller is very popular Ed. The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, dickheads – they all adore him. They think he’s a righteous dude.”

The clip above illustrates how well Ferris Bueller’s character is respected across the diverse spectrum of students regardless of what group they hang out with the most. Likewise, Senator Paul is able to navigate across the otherwise abrasive barriers of the baby boomer generation Tea Party members, libertarians, Occupy Wall Street members, well-educated millennial generation students, and a host of other grassroots groups ripe to form a coalition in defense of the Constitution.

Rand Paul has captured that same spirit of popularity as one of the most righteous dudes in American politics.

Time Magazine has featured Senator Rand Paul as the most interesting man in politics this year. Politico has also reported he is the most “in demand” politician on the national speaking circuit for campaigns across the nation. And the momentum in early polls and hires are also all swinging in Rand Paul’s direction. The reason for this groundswell of grassroots support is because Rand Paul is a man of WE THE PEOPLE.

The cards are stacking up in Rand Paul’s favor because we haven’t seen a Presidential campaign with this much early momentum since the likes of Ronald Reagan, John F. Kennedy, and Dwight D. Eisenhower. Rand Paul is a pragmatic populist Constitutionalist who loves to listen to American citizens and conducts voter outreach everywhere with any group of people regardless who may be in the crowd.

Senator Paul has visited the liberal bastion of Berkeley to discuss the Fourth Amendment and NSA privacy scandal and received a standing ovation. Senator Paul’s work with New Jersey Democrat Senator Cory Booker to end the drug war and stop unfair discriminatory minimum sentencing laws have been a monumental bipartisan step in the right direction for America. He has also praised by the NAACP for his work in discussion economic freedom zones and for visiting Ferguson.

American citizens do not want to see any more dynasties in the White House and abhor the thought of another Clinton or Bush ever occupying the highest office in America again. Republicans feel displeasure towards the quixotic quest Jeb Bush might attempt in running for the Presidency that would easily end in defeat. Democrats are also displeased with Hillary Clinton because of her outlandish out of touch persona with a $300,000 per speech price tag. This disconnect between Hillary Clinton and the left-wing is so bad that even Green Party member Ralph Nader has called for a coalition of Elizabeth Warren supporters to work with Rand Paul supporters to ensure we have a candidate for the people in office.

On the other side of the political spectrum even Anarcho-Capitalist and Liberty.me CEO Jeffrey Tucker is optimistic about Rand Paul for 2016.

Currently Senator Paul is working to make sure Congress are the ones who authorize war against ISIS as written in the Constitution. He is also preparing a Senate bill to finally Audit the Federal Reserve. A similar bill has already passed the Republican controlled House by a vast majority twice. Now that Mitch McConnell is the Senate majority leader it can pass the Senate as well. Time will tell if the grassroots momentum to win victory for liberty is for the long term.
