More religious extremism has struck overseas – this time, in Bangladesh as English professor Rezaul Karim Siddique was hacked to death by “sharp weapons” on his was to class on Saturday, a matter of death that matches the pattern left by a group of Muslim militants that have previously murdered atheist bloggers for speaking out against radical Islamism.
Bangladesh in currently a Muslim-majority country.
Investigators so far have found no connection to similar anti-Islamism speech for Siddique, however, other than the fact that he edited a literary magazine that might or might not have contained such content at one point.
“So far as we know, he did not have any known enemies and we never found him worried,” investigators were reported as having said. “We don’t know why it happened to him.”
