President Trump Declares America Will Never Be a Socialist Nation at State of the Union Address

While there are many things that could be said about President Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday night there perhaps the boldest  statements from the President was his proclamation that America will never become a Socialist nation.

President Trump boldy called out the evil and utter devastation socialism has brought to Venezuela on Tuesday night saying, “ “We stand with the Venezuelan people in their noble quest for freedom — and we condemn the brutality of the Maduro regime, whose socialist policies have turned that nation from being the wealthiest in South America into a state of abject poverty and despair.”

“Here, in the United States, we are alarmed by new calls to adopt socialism in our country,” the president said. “America was founded on liberty and independence – not government coercion, domination, and control. We are born free, and we will stay free.”

“Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country,” Trump declared.

While many in attendance at the speech erupted with cheers and thunderous rounds of applause not everyone shared the enthusiasm of President Trump’s statement. Democratic Senator, and self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist, Bernie Sanders sat with a  look of disgust on his face as pictured below. 

The look on Senator Sanders’ face looks as though President Trump’s words have him feeling a different kind of “burn.”
