POLL: What Should the United States’ Policy on Afghanistan be?

LISTEN TO TLR’S LATEST PODCAST:

On Monday, President Trump announced an increase in troop levels and combat missions for the sixteen-year-old war in Afghanistan. This is a flip flop of epic proportions, which he acknowledges, and runs more in line with Hillary’s defeated strategy. The administration claims he went through a painstaking amount of research and deliberations to arrive at the decision, but many Americans are calling his bluff.

The President’s statement was strong, well-written, and well-delivered. Many neoconservatives and neoliberals are praising his words today. However, those words were vague and rang hollow to Americans who have had the veil of the War on Terrorism pulled from their eyes and believe the entire effort has been costly and counterproductive.

Many democrats, as well as liberty-minded republican congressmen and candidates have voiced their dissent with the president. Those figureheads, as well as the average American, see the move as a continuation of failed policy in a war that has no endgame. They are tired of never-ending conflict that spends limitless funds on the backs of the taxpayers and blood of the soldiers.
