Poll: Joe Biden Run Would Be ‘A Real Nightmare’ For Hillary Clinton

A new poll shows that a Joe Biden run for president could be a big problem for democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton.

The Wall Street Journal poll released Tuesday shows that while Joe Biden is not likely to win the nomination, his run would take voters mostly from Clinton, allowing Bernie Sanders to possibly overtake her.

Bill McInturff, the Republican pollster who helped conduct the survey said a Biden candidacy could be “a real nightmare for the Clinton campaign,” that “could pick off votes and put states in play.”

Clinton having to spend the extra money early on would leave her with less for the general, and a messy primary will hurt her overall popularity.

The poll reports that Biden would beat Jeb Bush in a one-on-one matchup by 8 points, while Clinton is tied.

Donald Trump and Ben Carson are neck and neck in the race for the Republican nomination. But Trump does poorly in a one-on-one matchup with Clinton, whereas Carson, Bush and Carly Fiorina do better.

As a whole, the Republican party has a tougher task in gaining America’s favor. About 45 percent of Americans view the Republican party negatively and 29 percent view it favorably while 41 percent have a negative view of the Democrat party and 35 percent have a positive view.

Clinton has seen other troubling polls lately. A poll in early September showed that more than half of likely voters think Clinton probably broke the law in her private server email scandal.
