NORFOLK, VA – Navy personnel were once again left largely defenseless thanks to gun control laws banning the vast majority of military personnel from carrying firearms on U.S. military facilities when against a crazed man walked into a Virginia naval base, stole a guard’s gun and turned it on Navy personnel. The gunman, a civilian, had previously worked at the Norfolk Naval Station and had the correct credentials to be on the base at the time.
The man reportedly walked onto a destroyer and disarmed a petty officer guarding the ship, killing the petty officer. Naval security forces eventually killed the gunman.
In general, military personnel are not allowed to carry firearms on military bases outside of war zones. This senseless policy leaves personnel we regularly entrust with actual weapons of war (not those deemed to be by ignorant, fear mongering left-wing politicians) largely defenseless off the battlefield in the name of political correctness.
