A wild boar tragically killed a U.S. Border Patrol agent and two others on Christmas Day after a truck collided with the animal in southwest Texas.
A truck struck the wild hog, causing a Ford Expedition to swerve on the highway and crash into a Mercedes, resulting in three deaths late Monday. The driver of the Expedition, Ruby Garza, 51, and Border Patrol agent, Antonio Cordova, 27, died at the scene. Cordova’s passenger in the Mercedes, Julia Vasquez, 51, died later at the hospital.
Border patrol agents said that the incident happened when Cordova was driving home after a shift, reported Yahoo! News Thursday.
Both cars were “fully engulfed in flames,” reported mysanantionio.com. The two passengers in Garza’s car, Noemi Acuna, 47, and Mayra Vasquez, 30 are currently hospitalized and their current conditions are unknown.
Wild hogs are a huge problem for Texas and cause millions of dollars of agricultural damage to properties each year, reported Dallas News.
