Pete Buttigieg Cancels Four Florida Fundraising Events Due to Illness

Pete Buttigieg will not appear at four scheduled events in Florida on Wednesday, citing illness as the reason for his withdrawal following Tuesday evening’s 10th Democratic presidential debate.

The democratic nominee hopeful was to be part of fundraisers and “community conversations” in Wellington, Palm Beach County, and in Miami-Dade, but a cold has seen him ruled out of those appearances.

David Smiley of the Miami Herald wrote this would have been Buttigieg’s first appearance in South Florida since August.

The former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, is battling for prominence in the democratic race, which is currently led by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, one of the oddsmakers favorites to become next US president, according to oddsmakers of New Jersey’s legal sportsbooks (at the moment it is not possible to bet on the political events in the USA). However, Sanders is far from certain to be named on the ticket in the home state of President Donald Trump, where fellow nominees Michael Bloomberg and Joe Biden share an almost equal portion of the latest ballots, per data published by the Florida Southern College Center for Polling and Policy Research.

Buttigieg is still expected to attend an event in Charleston, North Carolina, alongside Reverend Al Sharpton on Wednesday.

The Presidential Preference Primary Election is scheduled to take place on March 17, while the Primary Election in Florida is set for August 18.
