Are We All Perverts? – New book argues that humans are not meant to be monogamous (VIDEO)

Meant to be Monogamous?

Reason TV has a new video out with Thaddeus Russell interviewing Christopher Ryan, the author of a new book called Sex At Dawn: The Prehistoric Origins of Modern Sexuality. Ryan argues that humans aren’t meant to be monogamous. He talks about how the vast majority of human sexual interactions are not related at all to reproduction, but socialization.

In the interview Ryan tells the story of World War 2 fighter pilots who swapped wives in order to build a stronger bond in their community. These are men who had the highest chance of being killed in the war. In interviews after the conflict, they stated that they did it because they knew they had bad odds and if they didn’t come home that their buddies would take care of their wives and children.

Ryan looks at archaeology, biology, human physiology and anthropological studies of pre-agricultural tribes from around the world. The interview is 26:44 long.
