Pentagon’s New Super-Spy Plane Spotted Over Area 51 (VIDEO)

Meet the RQ-180 Super-Spy Plane.

A sleek new drone has been reported to be flying over the recently declassified Area 51. The spy plane is designed to fly undetected in contested air space over countries such as North Korea, China or Iran.

Northrop Grumman’s unmanned RQ-180 has a wingspan of 130 feet, and resides at the famously spooky Area 51 testing facility in Groom Lake, Nevada. The wingspan is much larger than a similar plane which was used in the operation to kill Osama Bin Laden. It could go into operation as early as 2015.

In related news, the U.S. Congress recently held a hearing on the search for intelligent life in the universe.

Northrop successfully landed a drone on an aircraft carrier for the first time ever back in January. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus compared it to the first time that a pilot ever landed a biplane on a ship in 1911 saying, “It is not often that you get a chance to see the future, but that’s what we got to do today,” he said. “This is an amazing day for aviation in general and for naval aviation in particular.”
