Pennsylvania School District Arms Teachers With Small Baseball Bats

A school district in Pennsylvania has decided to arm their teachers with small bats for protection in response to the recent school shootings in the U.S., the districts superintendent announced Tuesday.

The small bats were reportedly given to all teachers in the Millcreek Township School district after they attended a scheduled training day on how to respond to a school shooting situation, WTMJ-TV reported. The bats will reportedly be locked up in classrooms and offices in all 10 schools throughout the district.

“We passed them out, with the goal being we wanted every room to have one of these. Again, for consistency and for the symbolic piece that, unfortunately, we’re in a day and age where we may need to use them to protect ourselves and our kids,” Millcreek Township superintendent Bill Hall said in an interview.

The news comes as another district in Pennsylvania decided that they will stop school shootings by arming their students with rocks. (RELATED: PA School District Arms Students With Rocks To Combat School Shootings)

The school district also reportedly has several other proposals for school safety such as a a concrete barrier around the walkway at the districts high school and increased security at the schools entrances.
