FEDERAL HEIGHTS, CO – Officer Mark Magness is now a former police officer after video emerged showing him brutally abusing a prisoner in his cell. The bodycam footage shows him slamming the suspect against a refrigerator, taking him to a cell and waving his finger in the suspect’s face before punching him 12 times.
Magness pleaded guilty to assault and received one year of probation, as well as being removed from the force. This was his second incident of excessive force. The incident highlights the need for bodycams on police officers to maintain their accountability in an age where that virtue seems lacking in the United States.
