Officer catches shoplifting mom. Doesn’t arrest her. Buys her groceries instead. (VIDEO)

Kind Cop Helps Struggling Mom

A Florida Police Officer decided not to arrest Jessica Robles, a mother who was shoplifting food to feed her kids. Officer Vicki Thomas says she knew that arresting her would not solve the problem and she went into the store and bought her $100 worth of groceries.

Robles stated that she was desperate and had no money to pay for groceries for her kids. The mother of three had walked out of the store with a cart carrying $300 worth of groceries that she didn’t pay for. When Officer Thomas heard her explanation she immediately took pity on her.

In addition to buying her food, Officer Thomas also helped her find food banks and local charities to help with food assistance.  “I have done similar things before, and the people I work with have also done similar things,” she said. “The only thing I asked of her is, when she gets on her feet, that she help someone else out,” the officer said. “And she said she would.”
