Police in Chicago are launching an investigation into an off-duty officer who shot and killed his neighbors dog. The 8 year veteran of the force claims he was with his young son when a four month old pit bull leaped at them. The owner is disputing the charge and counters saying that the dog was a block away from the boy when the officer killed the dog, shooting it eight times.
“It’s supposed to be on a leash. If that dog is on a leash this never happens,” the officer said. “[My son] wanted to ride his bike. So he’s riding down the sidewalk. As I’m walking down the street the dog comes out of the gangway charging at him.”
The case has been turned over to an independent review board.
