Former President Barack Obama wished Sunday he could create a million more younger versions of himself to help the world get started on human progress.
Obama made the comments to a Japanese audience as he talked about how his Obama Foundation attempts to engage young leaders around the world.
“If I could do that effectively, then — you know — I would create a hundred or a thousand or a million young Barack Obamas or Michelle Obamas,” Obama said. “Or, the next group of people who could take that baton in that relay race that is human progress.”
Obama also took a moment to praise the Parkland, Fla., students for their activism and creating Saturday’s March for Our Lives.
“This was all because of the courage, and effort of a handful of fifteen, sixteen year olds who took the responsibility that adults have failed to take to find a solution to the problem. I think that’s a testimony to what happens when young people are given opportunities,” he added.
