Newark Airport Becomes MVP After Denying Chris Christie VIP

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was denied use of the VIP entrance after trying to bypass airport security. As Christie is no longer an elected official, he does not qualify for security bypass.

CBS News reports:

“Christie tried to circumvent a TSA checkpoint at Newark Liberty International Airport Terminal C Thursday morning. Christie was with his State Police detail and attempted to enter through a special access area, located near the exit of the restricted area of the terminal.

The Port Authority says one of its officers refused to let Christie pass, telling the former governor that he is no longer allowed to use that access.”

Christie and his security detail were instead ushered back to the TSA Checkpoint to undergo screening like everybody else in the airport.

Christie denied the reports on Twitter.

Christie is no stranger to denial. He famously said “I didn’t get any sun today” when he and his family enjoyed a beach all to themselves that had been closed off to the public over July 4th weekend in 2017.

Following Christie’s departure from the Governor’s Office, he has a state trooper providing security detail for 6 months, an option given to retiring governors in New Jersey. Christie is only the 2nd former governor to opt for this detail. This however does not grant VIP access.

For the first time in a long time, Christie will get to undergo all the same screening and privacy violations as those he governed.
