Trevor Noah’s first week on the job as host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” took off to a good start, scoring some big laughs at GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump’s expense. In a hilarious opening segment Trevor, a native of South Africa, compared Trump to African Dictators.
Noah told his audience there was something about Trump that bore a strong resemblance to a South African President.
“But for me, as an African, there’s just something familiar about Trump that makes me feel at home.”
It’s “light xenophobia with just a dash of diplomacy,” he said, “Which is also the title of Paula Dean’s new book.” The zinger drew much laughter.
Noah didn’t let up on this comparison, suggesting, “Donald Trump is already at the level of Zimbabwe’s president, Robert Mugabe, who’s brutality and oppressive tactics have kept him in power for 35 years.”
This was one hilarious segment by the new host of the show. However, Once the laughing stops there will be a sobering moment when everyone realizes that this may just be a little more than just fodder.
