Nature & Liberty in Midland ~ Sundays With Steffi

Happy Sunday, Liberty Lovers!

There is new life in the soil for every man. There is healing in the trees for tired minds and for our overburdened spirits, there is strength in the hills, if only we will lift up our eyes. Remember that nature is your great restorer.
Calvin Coolidge

Midland, Michigan has a very special place in my heart. Northwood University is located there, which is where my liberty journey began in 2008.

Since 2018, Midland has also been the home of THE longest canopy walk in America at the Whiting Forest of Dow Gardens!

Dow Gardens was started in 1899 by the founder of the Dow Chemical Company, Herbert H. Dow. The Gardens were originally a home for Herbert H. Dow, his wife Grace A. Dow, and their seven children. One of their children was innovator and philosopher, Alden B. Dow. Alden studied with Frank Lloyd Wright and became known for his innovative architecture and designs.

In the words of Alden B. Dow: “Everyone has creative ability. When a person is awakened to that fact in himself; all kinds of creative things can happen.”

Let’s get lost in nature together as we explore the Whiting Forest, Dow Gardens, and Northwood University. Watch out for the chipmunks!
