Muslim Televangelist: “Masturbating Men Will Find Their Hands Pregnant In The Afterlife”

Muslim televangelist sets Turkish social media on fire after claiming a man would meet his masturbating hand “pregnant in the afterlife” and “asking for its rights.”

A Muslim televangelist in Turkey is causing a stir after taking questions about sensitive topics from viewers of the private television station 2000 TV.  Mücahid Cihad Han was puzzled when a viewer told him that he “kept masturbating, although he was married, and even during the Umrah.” The Umrah is a pilgrimage to Mecca that can be taken at any time of the year.

Han claims that Islam prohibits masturbation, calling it “haram,” forbidden. Han then referred to a saying of the Prophet Mohammed, retold in one Hadith, (the collections of the reports of the teachings, deeds and sayings of the prophet Mohammad) “Moreover, one hadith states that those who have sexual intercourse with their hands will find their hands pregnant in the afterlife, complaining against them to God over its rights.”

Han continued, “If our viewer was single, I could recommend he marry, but what can I say now?” Han advised the viewer to “resist Satan’s temptations.

So is Han correct in saying that Islam forbids masturbation?

According to the Hurriyet Daily News:

“Istimna,” the Arabic term for masturbation that Han also referred to, is a controversial issue in Islam, as there have been varying opinions on its permissibility throughout history. The Quran has no clear reference to masturbation and the authenticity of many hadiths is questionable.

Despite Han’s assertive religious stance, only a limited number of Islamic interpretations categorize masturbation as “haram,” while most of others call it a “makruh” (disliked) act. Many of the mainstream Islamic interpretations even allow it in certain conditions, like if the act could be used to avoid the temptation of an extramarital affair.

After making the statements Han was mocked furiously on Turkish social media and Twitter.

Not everyone however, saw the humor of the situation.

He’s partly right that this might not be the real Islam. Since Islam has no central authorities like Catholics have with the Pope, anyone can call themselves an Imam and anyone trained in Islamic law can issue a fatwa. Islam is up to the interpretation of the person practicing it to a large extent.

That doesn’t mean this isn’t real Islam either however, because the Hadiths and Quran do contain passages such as:

“Quran (3:56) – “As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help.” 

Quran (4:74) – “Let those fight in the way of Allah who sell the life of this world for the other. Whoso fighteth in the way of Allah, be he slain or be he victorious, on him We shall bestow a vast reward.”

Quran (8:12) – “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them”

And one of the more well-known quotes from the Hadiths.

Bukhari (52:177) – Allah’s Apostle said, “The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. “O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.”

The U.N. also recently reported that a woman was burned alive by the Islamic State for refusing to perform “extreme sex acts.”

So remember, masturbation is haram and therefore forbidden. Raping, enslaving, and burning people alive? Not so much.
