Mnuchin Received A Literal Box Of S**t For Christmas From ‘The American People’

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin received a box of horse manure at his Los Angeles home Saturday evening along with a Christmas card criticizing the recently signed comprehensive tax reform bill.

The package, which was initially discovered in Mnuchin’s neighbor’s driveway in Bel Air, was x-rayed and opened by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) bomb Squad, local police toldthe Los Angeles Times.

“There was nothing other than insulting comments,” LAPD Officer Ray Barron said. “There was nothing dangerous in the box — no controlled substances. No threats were made.”

The U.S. Secret Service immediately took over the investigation, though it’s not clear any crimes were committed, Baron told the LA Times.

Mnuchin’s neighbor called the police upon identifying the package. The bomb squad arrived on scene and shut down the street, probing the package with a remote controlled cart before determining it was benign, aside from its odor.

Los Angeles psychologist Robby Strong took credit for delivering the Christmas gift, telling AL.com it was “an act of political theater,” motivated by his opposition to the sweeping tax bill President Donald Trump signed into law Friday.

“The thing I live by is a rule of transparency and I was exercising my First Amendment rights,” Strong told AL.com. “A few years ago when [a Supreme Court ruling] said that corporations are persons and money equals free speech, that is so absurd and my rule of thumb is now that if corporations are free speech, then so is horses***t.”

Strong posted several photos of the box to Facebook Saturday accompanied by captions laying out his plans. One of the photos depicted a letter, which read “Mrs. (sic) Mnuchin & Trump, We’re returning the ‘gift’ of the Christmas tax bill. It’s bulls**t,” the letter states. “Warmest wishes, The American People. P.S. – Kiss Donald for me.”

Strong, a Kentucky native who moved to Los Angeles, said Secret Service agents showed up at his door to interview him but did not arrest him.

“I just got interviewed by the Secret Service and I’ve now joined some of my heroes like Timothy Leary and Martin Luther King,” he told AL.com. “[The agents] just showed up in my yard.”

He claims to have dodged any potential legal issues by delivering the manure himself rather than using the postal service.
