This Missouri Bar Offered A “Mike Brown Shot Special”

ST. JOSEPH, MO – A bar in Missouri is under intense public scrutiny after offering a shot special in honor of Mike Brown last week. Mug Shots, a bar whose slogan is “where sarcasm is always free,” learned pretty quickly that some jokes just won’t fly.

The bar’s owner is apologizing to the public and has stopped offering the deal.  “It’s not meant to cause any harm,” he said to FOX 4 on Saturday. “I should have thought a little bit more about it before I made it a shot special.”

The owner claims other bars were offering the special and he stole the idea from them. “It looked like it was getting a good response so I just decided to use it here,” he said. “That’s what bar owners do if they find something works at another bar they try to use it at their bar.”

No one looted or attacked the bar after it was realized what was going on. The store’s owner posted on their Facebook page:

“Just so everyone knows, there was a man who was planning to come protest tonight with a group of people, but since he contacted me and we talked about things, he is now coming to talk to reporters with me because he sees that this is a ridiculous misunderstanding that has been blown way out of proportion. Thankfully we were able to talk like adults and were able to understand both sides.”
