Suburban homes have erupted into flames after a Yuma-based Harrier military jet crashed into a California neighborhood. The jet was seeing flying close to the ground shortly before the crash; the pilot was able to eject in time.
Between three and four homes were impacted and eight have been evacuated.
Daniel Urias was among those who captured the destruction via cell phone video. “I ran outside as soon as I looked out my window and saw the explosion,” Urias said. “I thought I was seeing a meteor hit my park… I had to go check it out and then I asked what it was and they said it was a jet.”
This is the second time that a Yuma-based Harrier jet has crashed in a month.
