Public School Violence
DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD – A 7-year-old girl was viciously attacked and beaten until she was unconscious at Claggett Elementary School by four of her classmates on Tuesday. The girl was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with a mild concussion. Now her parents are pressing for answers.

The girl’s mother Phersephone Holland was incredulous that it would happen at school saying, “That’s my baby. I bring her to school and that’s the least thing I expect is a phone call informing me that my daughter is unconscious,” she said.
The victim’s father claims that this violence has happened before when their daughter came home with a split lip. “It’s an ongoing problem,” he said.
Fox 5 reported that the attack occurred in a gymnasium where about 75 kids had gathered and five teachers were on duty supervising the event. School officials have not disciplined anyone involved as of yet or reportedly informed any of the parents of the aggressors.
“Notice needs to be sent out because next time it could be a little pocket knife or a gun to school,” says Holland.
A spokesperson for the Prince George’s County Public School system says they are investigating the incident and will send home a letter to the parents informing them of the incident.
